ANC PBF takes 100 strong delegation to China

First time SA will be represented at the Northeast Asia Trade Expo in Changchun

ANC'S PROGRESSIVE BUSINESS FORUM TAKES LARGEST EVER TRADE DELEGATION TO CHINA

The ANC's Progressive Business Forum (PBF) is taking its largest South African trade delegation to attend the 7th China Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo in Changchun, China, from 3-10 September this year. This is the first time South Africa will be represented at the Northeast Asia Trade Expo in Changchun.

Accompanying the delegation of more than 100 South African business people from seventy companies from across the business spectrum, are Rejoice Mabudafhasi, Deputy Minister of Water and Environment Affairs; the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Economic Development, Ms E Coleman; and the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry, Ms J Fubbs.

The Co Convenors of the PBF, Daryl Swanepoel and RenierSchoeman, are both accompanying the delegation, this being the largest PBF international trade delegation to date. This fact is testimony to the great interest that South African enterprises have in doing business with China. It highlights the importance which the ANC attaches to further developing and strengthening the mutually-beneficial trade relations between China and South Africa, which is based on cooperation and mutual respect.

In addition to the trade expo, two South Africa / China business forums will be held, both with business-to-business sessions, the first being the PBF/ Northeast Asia Trade Seminar in Changchun and the second the South Africa/China PBF Business Forum in Beijing. The PBF is also hosting the South African exhibition stand at the expo itself.

South Africa's commitment to further strengthening and developing trade and investment between itself and China, bears witness to the ANC's ongoing deepening of relations with China as South Africa strives to address its still unacceptably high levels of unemployment and poverty.

Statement issued by the Progressive Business Forum, African National Congress, Chief Albert Luthuli House, September 6 2011
