Cwele to consider representation of Protection of Info Bill

Minister of state security requests parliamentary committee postpone hearings

Public hearings on the Protection of Information Bill

12 Aug 2010

The Ministry of State Security has been following the process of the public hearings on the Protection of Information Bill with a keen interest.

Various submissions and presentations were made to the adhoc committee, by members of society, media and interested organisations.

The Minister, Dr Siyabonga Cwele, views these submissions seriously and requires sufficient time to consider them comprehensively. This has necessitated a request for postponement of the interaction with the adhoc committee, originally scheduled for Friday, 13 August 2010.

The Minister looks forward to a deeper level of discourse on this very important piece of legislation by all sections of our society.
