Julius Malema's accusations malicious - ANC

Zizi Kodwa says EFF leader abused parliamentary privilege by alleging that the ANC govt was responsible for Marikana massacre

ANC STATEMENT ON MALICIOUS ACCUSATIONS BY JULIUS MALEMA

The African National Congress find the claims by leader of the EFF Julius Malema disingenuous that the ANC government is responsible for Marikana massacre. We believe that he has abused the privilege of parliament by making a reckless and irresponsible statement on a matter that is under consideration by the Farlam Commission. In his eagerness to project the ANC negatively, he wants to mislead the public that the ANC and it's government took a decision to massacre 44 people in Marikana including mine workers, police and security guards.

What the EFF is seeking to do is to undermine not only the process of the Commission but also to prejudge its outcome. The ANC is of the view that members of parliament must act in an honest and respectable manner and not conduct themselves in a manner that undermines the integrity of the house. All South Africans including government were unanimous in condemning the Marikana incident which was the basis informing the need to investigate circumstances that led to the unfortunate deaths.

The ANC  as the leader of society believes in the sanctity of life and that everything should be done to avoid death. We believe that opportunistic accusations like we have observed, fail to account that circumstances like Marikana unless properly investigated and stern decisions taken based on outcome, can undermine responsibility and accountability of all parties that were involved and are responsible.
