NDZ has no links with Gupta-associated businesses – ANCWYL

Furthermore the prize money from ANN7’s ‘South African of the Year’ award was donated to the Thusanani Foundation

ANCWL STATEMENT ON ALLEGATIONS OF FINANCIAL MISCONDUCT BY ANCWL NEC MEMBER DR NKOSAZANA DLAMINI

The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) has noted media reports allegeding that Lord Peter Hain have flagged the ANCWL National Executive Committee (NEC) member Cde Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma among the 27 people that United Kingdom (UK) financial institutions should review as possibly involved in criminal financial activities.

The ANCWL unreservedly support the fight against tax avoidance, money laundering or any form of illicit financial flows. However, It will be suicidal for ANCWL leadership, supporters, members and society in general to isolate allegations attributed to Lord Peter Hain about Cde Nkosazana from neo-colonialism and the interests of beneficiaries of apartheid regime in the outcomes of the ANC National Conference in December 2017. It is alleged that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States of America and UK authorities will be investigating the allegations of money laundering by the Gupta family and Cde Dr Nkosazana will also be investigated. Cde Dr Nkosazana has been on record that she has no links with any of the Gupta associated businesses. Like many other prominent South Africans, she was named South African of the year at Africa News Network7's (ANN7) annual SATY awards in 2015. The prize money she received for the award was donated to Thusanani Foundation.

The ANCWL is of the view that the imperialists and former colonisers held their branch general meeting (BGM) and nominated their preferred candidate to be in the top echelon of the African National Congress (ANC) and be the next President of South Africa in 2019. Cde Dr Nkosazana is fearless, unapologetic cadre who advances the interest of the society and remains a threat to imperialism and neo-colonialism and they will do all within their powers to stop her from leading the ANC and the country. During her tenure as Minister of Health she brought forward the Tobacco Products Control Bill in 1999, which British American Tobacco (BAT) South Africa tried to scrap the through courts of law. It is worth noting that Remgro which is Chaired by the anti radical economic transformation who is beneficiary of apartheid laws, Mr Johann Rupert held 10% and Richemont held 18.6% of BAT before unbundling.

The ANCWL calls its supporters, members and society in general not to be distracted by the attempts of Lord Peter Hain, FBI, UK authorities and their agents trying to cast aspersions against Cde Dr Nkosazana. The focus now should be on the ANC BGM's where members must fully participate in policy discussions and nominations of the preferred candidate to be elected into the NEC of the ANC. The ANC BGM's should discuss amongst others the unrelenting support of ANC to the people of Palestine, strengthening relations amongst the BRICS countries and for BRICS to have its own trading currency and rating agencies.

ANCWL supports Cde Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to be the next President of the ANC in December 2017 and the next President of the county in 2019. She is a tried and tested cadre who led in various structures of our movement, in various portfolios as cabinet member and in the high echelons of African Union. She is an experienced committed politician and administrator whose interest is on the poor and the working class in society.

The urgent task of leadership collective to be led by Cde Dr Nkosazana is to champion land expropriation, free education and fundamental change of the structure, systems, institutions and patterns of ownership, management and control of the economy in favour of all South Africans, especially the poor, the majority of whom are African and female.

Radical economic transformation now or never!!!
