Nicholas Darius Maweni new BMF MD

Tembakazi Mnyaka says managing director brings wealth of local and global experience

The BMF Board is pleased to announce that Mr. Nicholas Darius Maweni has been appointed as the new Managing Director. His appointment is effective immediately.

Maweni was the most senior South African black executive in the leadership team of IBM Africa. He was responsible for Sub Saharan Africa, looking after their Marketing, Communications, Demand Programs, Workforce & Field Enablement, CSI and Market Research. He has over 14 years of corporate experience.

He served as the Group Marketing Director of Crossroads Distribution, a leading logistics, transport, supply chain company in Africa which owns the likes of Skynet Worldwide Express. He was the Executive Head of Corporate Affairs at Virgin Mobile since its launch in South Africa.

Prior him been at Virgin, he was the Marketing Director for ATIO Corporation. He has worked for various companies in the ICT sector, including Vodacom, Marconi, TIBCO to mention but a few.

In 2010 he was honored with the Manager of the Year Award at the BMF Achievement Awards Ceremony. He has received received a number of awards from the likes of the Institute of Marketing Management and the City of Port Elizabeth as the Citizen of the Year in 1999. He has a Masters in Business Administration majoring in Strategic Marketing from the UK.
