R3,5m spent on CSVR study a waste of money - FF+

Pieter Groenewald says report failed to come up with anything useful or new

ON CRUELTY OF CRIME SAYS NOTHING

"The long waited report by the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation on the investigation into the reasons for the cruelty of violent crimes is a disappointment," says Mr. Pieter Groenewald (MP), chief spokesperson on Police for the Freedom Front Plus.

"The report does not address the causes of the cruelty of violent crime and points out the general socio-economic and socio-political problems of violent crime. Even the Police acknowledged that the report had not found anything new. R3, 5 million was spent to ascribe the culture of violence to upbringing, poverty, unemployment and apartheid.

Poverty and unemployment are poor excuses for violent crime as there are many more countries with more poverty and unemployment than South Africa but with a lot less violent crime. This report is another example of fruitless expenditures of taxpayer's money," Groenewald said.
