SAA ran at R4,67bn loss in 2014/15 - Alf Lees

DA MP says required management revolution at airline won't happen while Dudu Myeni is still there

SAA: R4,67 billion loss should see 'corporate warlord' Myeni axed

15 September 2016

The DA welcomes today’s release of the provisional annual financial statements to Parliament.

The financial report released today confirms the massive 2014/15 loss of R 4,67 billion which brings the total loss as at end of 2014/15 to R 8,67 billion. There remains no doubt that the required management revolution at SAA has a low probability of materialising under the leadership of Dudu Myeni, who behaves less like a chairperson, and more like a corporate warlord, and who has single-handedly driven SAA to the brink of liquidation.

The DA remains convinced of the irrationality of the Cabinet decision to re-appoint Dudu Myeni as the Chair of the SAA board for a further year. The DA will therefore be submitting a formal application for a review of the Dudu Myeni appointment which will be lodged with the court.
