Secrecy concerning ministers’ performance evaluations demonstrates President’s contempt of public

It is arrogant of the Presidency to say ministers' performance evaluations have nothing to do with ordinary South Africans and that it, therefore, does not need to be disclosed.

In fact, it has everything to do with the people of South Africa. In the first place, ministers are public office bearers representing voters, so, voters have the right to know how they perform.

President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to keep the performance evaluations secret demonstrates his contempt for voters. It also serves as further proof of a lack of transparency on government's side about a matter that directly affects the public.

The excuse that opposition parties can address questions to ministers in Parliament which creates enough transparency is unacceptable.

The FF Plus expects the President to disclose the ministers' evaluations seeing as he undertook to do so.

He is breaking his promise, which makes it clear that he has something to hide regarding ministers' performance and that he is afraid to act against certain ministers as it might jeopardise his own position of power.

The results of certain departments clearly show that there are several exceptionally poor ministers in Cabinet. The President is obviously in denial about it.

So, South African voters are left with no other choice but to get rid of a President who is blatantly contemptuous of them next year at the polls.
