"The big Soweto derby!" – front page lead, July 31 2015

Daily Sun (July 31 2015) - THE NATION is counting down the minutes to the kick-off of the great South African soccer derby tomorrow.

And nobody is more excited than Sidney Molepo and Tumo Katane.

SIDNEY AND TUMO WILL BE ON THE COACHES BENCHES FOR THE YEAR’S BIGGEST SOCCER CARNIVAL!

The fifth edition of the Carling Cup takes place at the FNB Stadium tomorrow, kicking off at 3.30pm and Sidney Molepo (33) for Kaizer Chiefs and Tumo Katane (26) for Orlando Pirates will be there!

Sidney, who works in Human Resources at Sechaba Research Centre, said the feeling of being chosen as a coach had still not sunk in. A diehard Amakhosi supporter, he said his phone has not stopped ringing since the announcement was made.  “I feel as if I’m on top of the world. Two days ago I was just a supporter, but now I’m a champion coach,” he said.  “It’s a dream come true for me and it’s an opportunity of a lifetime for me to interact with the players and pass on the voice of the supporters to them.”

Sidney was born in Daveyton, Gauteng and says that he started supporting the Glamour Boys in 1995.  “I am hoping there will be goals this year and I would like nothing better that to lead the team to a big win over Pirates.”

Tumo, a production assist at Fraser Alexander Bulk Mech, comes from Secunda, Mpumalanga.  He said he has not been able

to sleep since he received the biggest phone call of his life.  “I’m excited. I still can’t believe I will be on the bench coaching Bucs, my favourite club.  “I’m counting the hours I’ve been able to sleep because of the excitement. I am ready to lead Bucs to their fourth title in this competition.  “Oupa Manyisa is my favourite player and to spend time with the players is an indescribable experience.”

Both Sydney and Tumo are hoping to venture into coaching on a full-time basis.  “I want to attend a coaching course and become a professional coach one day,” Sidney said.
