"Killer cake!" - Daily Sun

"Well-loved blind healer and young siblings poisoned!" - front page lead, August 24 2015

Daily Sun (August 20 2015) - BLIND HEALER S’bongiseni Nxumalo’s gifts helped many people.

But they didn’t save him.

IT IS BELIEVED POISONED CAKE KILLED HIM, HIS BROTHER AND HIS SISTER.

Now his grieving dad suspects a healer thought to have been jealous of S’bongiseni’s prophetic and healing gifts.

S’bongiseni (22) is said to have brought cake from a neighbourhood party on 2 August.

He wanted to share it with his dad, Serjo Bila (38), and his brothers and sisters.

Koshi (9), Mxolisi (21), twins Thabile and Thabi (6) and Serjo ate some of the cake and went to bed. But when jobless dad, Serjo, woke up the next morning at his home in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni he found out that only his twins were still alive.

He called neighbours and the cops.

Serjo and the twins were taken to Pholosong Hospital and released last Friday.

The bitter father said doctors found poison in their blood.

“I was sleeping with Koshi in the same bed, and she died in her sleep,” he said. “S’bongiseni was known by many. He worked well with people, healing them.

“My heart mourns for these kids of mine who were poisoned.

“S’bongiseni was blind, but he could see people’s problems and helped them. He used to work in his room at his home.

“I lost three kids in one day. I’m lucky my twins didn’t die.

“But the deaths of my other kids left a hole in my heart,” he said.
