"'Witches' used my baby to fly!" - Daily Sun

"Mum's relieved to have her little one back..." - front page lead, April 23 2015

Daily Sun (April 23 2015) - THIS mum lives in terror after hearing that her baby was stolen and used for the most amazing magic.

She says a thwasa told her that she and a sangoma used the baby to fly at night!

AND TO BRING BACK THREE GHOSTS AND 11 ZOMBIES TO PUT IN HER YARD!

Mum Sharlot Nagel (40) says she’s grateful her six-week-old baby is safe today.

But she will never forget how all the horrible things her priest had predicted came true.

Sharlot said her horror began last Friday with an invitation to visit the traditional healer’s house “to hear the good news”.

This sangoma lives across the road from Sharlot’s house in Bethanie, near Brits in North West.

She said the healer ordered a 19-year-old thwasa to speak.

Sharlot claims the thwasa said: “Last night while you and your husband slept we went into your bedroom and stole your baby and replaced her with a teddy bear.

“Your neighbour wants to start a business and needed your baby for muthi.”

Sharlot said the thwasa said they used her tiny baby to fly to Limpopo overnight.

On the return flight they brought the ghosts and zombies. Then the baby cried pitifully.

According to Sharlot, the thwasa said: “It was about 3am and time was running out. So we returned your baby and took back our teddy bear.

“This wasn’t the first time we’ve done something like this.

“Once we took a woman’s baby while she was pregnant and replaced it with a tokoloshe.”

Sharlot said: “The healer said that if something strange happens to my family he’s not responsible, the thwasa and the neighbour are.

“The thwasa told me to go breastfeed my teddy bear. I wasn’t sure if I still had my real baby at home or not.”

Sharlot said she wasn’t surprised as her priest had warned her that people trying to harm her would come out in public.

The healer, his girlfriend the thwasa, and the 37-year-old neighbour went with Sharlot’s family to the cop shop when the family laid a witchcraft complaint.

“My priest also told me the main culprits would be freed but something terrible would happen to them,” said Sharlot.

“On Saturday afternoon, the healer and his girlfriend were released. My priest prayed for my baby and we saw something move in her tummy. Her faeces had blood stains in it.”

When residents heard the story, they set the healer’s house ablaze with him, his brother and his girlfriend inside.

Cops rescued the healer and girlfriend, and now they’re in hospital.

A resident told Daily Sun they wanted to burn the three to make sure they never harmed anyone.

Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone of North West cops said the healer and his girlfriend had head injuries, but the healer’s brother had no injuries.

“They were taken to Brits Hospital. The case against two women aged 19 and 37 who appeared in Jericho Magistrates Court on Monday was withdrawn.

“Investigations regarding arson and assault continue.”
