ANC elated with support in by-elections

The ANC Western Cape thanks all voters who put their confidence in the ANC during yesterday's by-elections in the province in order for the ANC to retain two contested wards.

The ANC also notes the ANC won with a marked margin over the DA. The victory in Ceres is important as the DA went out of its way and pumped in resources to unseat the ANC in its ward. The DA even hired children that should have been in school to do its dirty work as it could not get volunteers. This is tantamount to child labour!

In Ceres Ward 10 (Witzenberg Municipality) Andries Smith won with 691 votes - 50% more than the DA's 469.

In Swellendam Ward 5 Gladys Phumla Libazi won with an even bigger margin and increased support. The ANC took the ward with 1 835 against the DA's 554 votes.

ANC Western Cape leader Marius Fransman says: "The ANC is elated with the trust and support of the voters that showed the ANC is still the only party that represent their hopes and aspirations."
