State Security welcomes appointment of Head of Domestic Branch

The Ministry of State Security wishes to welcome the appointment of Ambassador Bheki WJ Langa as Director: Domestic Branch of the State Security Agency (SSA). The appointment was made by President of the Republic of South Africa, in terms of the constitution and relevant legislation. The appointment is effective with effect from 1 August 2015.

Ambassador Langa holds an MSC and PhD in Economics with a Post Graduate Diploma in Quantitative Development Economics and an MA in Social and Development studies as well as additional qualifications at a number of highly recognised international tertiary institutions.

He has also completed comprehensive intelligence training in Russia. His illustrious career spans 39 years and includes deployments during the struggle for liberation. He is a seasoned public servant who served in various government portfolios since 1994 until 2005.

He brings with him immense understanding and knowledge of the intelligence environment and his astute managerial experience which will help move the organisation forward.

The Ministry looks forward to his contribution in advancing the course for an effective and efficient State Security Agency.
