City of Cape Town: Investigation into allegations to start shortly – James Selfe

DA CFE says if any wrongdoing is found the Council will deal decisively with those involved

Independent investigation into allegations in City of Cape Town to start shortly

21 November 2017

The DA notes certain serious allegations levelled against individuals within the City of Cape Town and welcomes the decision, following a Council meeting, to establish an independent investigation.

As some of the allegations affect councillors and administrators it would be inappropriate for Council itself to investigate, and in the circumstances, the Audit and Performance Audit Committee will be responsible for the appointment of the investigator who will then be required to submit a report within 30 days.

We have every confidence that the independent investigator will test the allegations appropriately and that, if evidence of wrongdoing is found, the Council will deal decisively with the individuals concerned.
