Graham McIntosh new COPE MP

Parliamentary veteran takes up seat vacated by Anele Mda

COPE Welcomes new MP Graham McIntosh

On Thursday 2nd June 2011 Graham McIntosh was sworn in as a Member of Parliament for COPE in the office of the Speaker of Parliament.  He fills the vacancy on the COPE IEC list that has come about as a result of the resignation from COPE of Ms Anele Mda.

On the 29 March 2011 Mr McIntosh was about to be sworn in by the Speaker but an urgent High Court interdict obtained by Mr Mbhazima Shilowa prevented the Speaker from doing so.

COPE is pleased that it can now move forward with a full team in Parliament and Graham McIntosh will bring to that team many years of parliamentary and political experience.

This is the fourth time that he has been sworn in as an opposition Member of Parliament.  His most recent term of service as a Member of Parliament was when Thabo Mbeki was President of the Republic.
