IEC approves EFF's registration as a political party - Julius Malema

Commander-in-Chief commends Commission for refusing to bow down to right-wing formations and the current murderous regime

IEC APPROVES ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS AS A REGISTERED POLITICAL PARTY: STATEMENT FROM THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF.

05 September 2014

The Independent Electoral Commission has officially informed Economic Freedom Fighters that the application EFF submitted for registration as a Political Party is approved. The approval means that EFF will contest the General Elections (National and Provincial Elections) in 2014 and Local Government Elections in South Africa. The approval of EFF means that this radical economic emancipation movement will have Public Representatives in all the National and Provincial Legislatures from 2014 onwards.

The registration of EFF as a Political Party is a historic Moment and beginning of real radical, militant and decisive political programme which will lead to real emancipation of the people of South Africa, Africa and the world. EFF will be government of South Africa and will lead a thoroughgoing economic emancipation programme contained in our Movement's Founding Manifesto.

The people of South Africa should now take a sigh of relief that a giant Movement of the people, a fighting force for change, a radical, militant, innovative and determined organisation is now going to be an option to all the existing political parties, which have collectively failed to transform South Africa. The people of Africa should appreciate that now a Movement of the people which will champion the interests of the African people, including through leading an aggressive economic  decolonisation programme through massive development and industrialisation programme will soon be government of South Africa.

The oppressed and exploited people of the world should now expect real anti-imperialist actions and political programme which will practically and programmatically undermine neoliberalism and global capitalism.

The EFF is fully aware of its obligations and responsibilities and will carry out those with military precision. These are obligations and the responsibility to equally redistribute South Africa and Africa's Wealth to the people as a whole. Land will be shared equitably amongst the people, Mines will be Nationalised, Free Quality Education, Healthcare and Sanitation will be provided, the African economy will be developed, South Africa will be industrialised, State capacity will be built to perform own functions, and corruption will be eliminated under EFF government.

EFF will be contesting elections in order to be government, not in order to be toothless opposition party in various Parliaments and Legislatures. EFF will never neglect the ground and will continue to find expression on the ground with the people and fighting their battles and struggles on a permanent basis. EFF will work with the progressive workers' movement and will organise sections of the working class into militant, uncompromising Trade Unions and Workers Movement. EFF will work with religious formations, Community based organisations, Non-governmental organisations, and all the people to realise true freedom and emancipation of the people.

EFF extends its gratitude to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for refusing to bow down to right-wing formations and the current murderous regime, which sought to prevent the registration of EFF as a Political Party. The democratic space is now open for real political and ideological contestation, not for what is currently happening in the South African political arena.

EFF thanks Fighters, Commissars, Organisers, and Commanders at Central, Provincial, Regional, Subregional, and Ward Command level for continued efforts even when our registration as a Political Party were being delayed.

Fighters should continue with the massive work on the ground to recruit and sign up Volunteers, Commissars, Organisers, Foot-Soldiers, and Supporters who will hold high the 7 Cardinal Pillars for Economic Freedom in Our Lifetime. Fighters should never spent a single day without having spoken to a minimum of 20 people everyday about economic freedom. Fighters should be at the forefront of each and every protest movement in all communities, workplaces, and institutions and should link the ground struggles to the struggle for economic freedom in our lifetime. Let us all grow this movement of the people because Victory is Certain! No Surrender! No Retreat!
