Nene has resigned as an MP - Office of the Chief Whip

Former finance minister's letter of resignation does not give reasons

CDE NHLANHLA NENE'S RESIGNATION

6 February 2016

The Office of the ANC Chief Whip confirms that former Minister of Finance, Cde Nhlanhla Nene, tendered his resignation as ANC MP in the National Assembly in December. Cde Nene's resignation letter, like many similar letters the Office has processed in the past, does not state the reason(s) for resignation. We are thus unfortunately in no position to speculate the reasons for his decision. Cde Nene has served both as Minister and MP with distinction and dedication, and we are confident he'll continue serving the country and our movement in other capacities in future. We wish him well.
