SACP congratulates COSATU at the conclusion of National Congress

The South African Communist Party has pledged to deepen its ties with COSATU and work towards unity in action

SACP congratulates Cosatu for its successful National Congress!

The South African Communist Party (SACP) congratulates the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) for holding a successful National Congress and for emerging more united from the freedom of discussion and voting exercised by all affiliates at the Congress. This is the essential content of worker democracy. Focus must now be placed on unity in action, based on the outcomes of the Congress and the constitutionally elected leadership of the federation as the sum total of its affiliates in the context of the principles of collective leadership, trade union and worker solidarity.

The SACP wishes to thank the collective leadership of Cosatu that has stayed the course, steered the ship and navigated it to its successful Congress despite sailing in troubled waters as a result of the devastating impact of the post-2008 international capitalist system crisis – the worst imperialist crisis since the Great Depression of the late 1920s to 1930s.

The SACP congratulates all the newly elected Cosatu National Office Bearers, and will continue working closely with Cosatu.  As our General Secretary Comrade Blade Nzimande has said in our Party’s message to the Congress, the SACP will deepen its work with all Cosatu affiliates!

The SACP says:

Together, let us deepen working class unity and drive our second radical phase of our country’s democratic transformation and the struggle for socialism!
