ANC Women’s League on Constitutional Court Ruling in relation to the Public Protector Report on the President’s Homestead

Thursday, 31 March 2016

The ANC Women’s League notes and respects the Constitutional Court ruling handed in relation to the Public Protector Report on Nkandla – the President’s Homestead.

We take reverence and remain confident on the democracy bestowed upon this country by the Constitution- The Highest Law of the Land with ConCourt as the final conciliator on matters presented before it.

We also uphold the ANC and its decision to seek recourse on the matter and also the President’s view and government in affirming the Chapter 9 institutions established to strengthen and support the country’s democracy.

The ANC Women’s League would like to thank our fellow South Africans in allowing the proceedings of the law to steadfastly unfold without fear or favour. That even at this point in time we allow the processes of implementing the judgement as outlined.

We have learnt lessons from the judgement, and wish to state it unequivocally, unambiguously and categorically clear that we firmly stand behind the ANC President, Cde Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, who ,even before the ruling ,indicated his preparedness to pay in accordance with the Public Protector' recommendations. This is a sign of continuous strengthening of our democracy that we learn every time.

Our faith and support for President Jacob Zuma remains unshaken and have full confidence of the nation’s development under his leadership.

It is time to move this country forward.
