ANC NWest condemns burning of ANC T-Shirts in Tlokwe

Party says conduct by councillors and those involved vindicates decision to expel these ill-disciplined members

ANC NORTH WEST STATEMENT ON THE BURNING OF ANC T-SHIRT AT TLOKWE

The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West vehemently condemns the burning of the ANC T-Shirts outside the Tlokwe Local Municipality

This conduct by these councillors and all involved vindicates the ANC and confirms the correctness of the decision to expel these ill-disciplined members by the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC).

We maintain our earlier position that we do not recognise the removal of the Mayor of Tlokwe as the Council meeting which took the decision was irregular. We are aware of the other outcomes of the said meeting including the decision to convene another Council meeting tomorrow and wish to state that this meeting will also be unlawful.

The ANC is committed towards improving the lives of the people of Tlokwe and South Africa in general. We remain committed to the five key priority areas as contained in the ANC election manifesto.

The ANC is the only political party which has the aspirations of the people of South Africa at heart. This was confirmed by the overwhelming support that we received from the majority of the people of Tlokwe in the previous local government elections. We will contest by-elections in the affected wards confident that we have full support of the masses behind their glorious movement.

We call upon all loyal loyal members of the ANC to isolate these individuals whose pre- occupation is to tarnish the good name and reputation of the ANC. The ANC distances itself from any form of association with individuals who are self-seeking, anarchists and agent provocateurs, who will stop at nothing but to ridicule the ANC.

The leadership of the ANC will convene meetings with the people of Tlokwe to clarify its decision to expel these ill-disciplined members. We reaffirm our commitment to the restoration and preservation of the dignity of the Tlokwe Local Municipality and unlike the opposition our preoccupation is not scoring cheap political points but placing the municipality at the helm of service delivery.  The announcements and details of these meetings will be convened through legitimate ANC structures.
