ANCYL condemns dumping of human excrement

League says it will investigate involvement of its members in protest outside WCape legislature

ANCYL condemns dumping of human excrements at WC Legislature

The ANCYL condemns the dumping human excrements on stairs of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature. This protest action is disgusting and despicable to say the least. We believe the  group could have opted for a decent yet effective form of protest action.  Now the focus has been diverted from the grievances which now defeats the whole purpose of the protest action. It has been reported that at least one member of the ANC Youth League participated in this protest together with the disgruntled residents of Makhaza and we shall investigate the alleged implication of our members.

The grievances  being raised in the Western Cape are genuine and legitimate as the people of Makhaza  are still subjected to use dehumanizing  'glorified bucket system' which was said to replace the notorious open toilets.  The DA continues to neglect the plight of poor people in the Western Cape who continue to suffer from adverse Cape weather with the flooding  of shacks and cold winter nights being regarded as natural for them because they are poor.

The ANCYL commits itself to bolster the ANC's drive to win back the Western Cape from DA. We will do this using our tried, tested, decent and effective methods to raise the grievances of the poor without opting to vandalism.

Statement issued by Bandile Masuku, ANCYL National Spokesperson and Magasela Mzobe, ANCYL National Coordinator, June 4 2013
