Leave Caster Semenya alone - MKMVA

Kebby Maphatsoe says IAAF and media's defamatory attitude insults the African child.

MKMVA PRESS STATEMENT ON CASTER SEMENYA, SOUTH AFRICA'S HEROINE

MKMVA congratulates and highly applauds our heroin Caster Semenya, who did us proud in the World Athletics Championships in Berlin by winning the 800m for women. This is a real daughter of the African soil with a fighting spirit that cannot be conquered as she showed the world with her determination and focus on making sure that our country is occupying its rightful place amongst the nations of the world. She truly deserves to be amongst the greats that are celebrated as part of Women's Month as she represented the African woman and the strength possessed by an African woman.

However, we are displeased with the undermining attitude and arrogance of the International Association of Athletics Federations and the European infested media and its allies on the statements that they made regarding her gender. The slanderous behaviour that they had shown with their defamatory attitude insults the African child and her character.

They find it hard to believe that an African child would be able to be as dominant in the sports field at such a young age, and her modesty and focus affects them as they were not psychologically prepared for a South African girl to improve from her performance in Africa to be the champion in the world. Caster is a female and there is no one who must question that unless they are trying to tell us other things; we never question the sexuality of athletes such as Navratilova, Chrytie Gaines,Gail and many more because we understand the relation of masculinity, physique and training.

They must let our Caster enjoy the celebrations she had brought to our country and the hope she shined on many young South Africans that South Africa is still a country that has the capacity and is still a beacon of hope for sports development and development in general no matter where you come from, rural or otherwise.
