UJ and ZANC conspired to block our meeting - EFF

Fighters' say ruling party is resorting to cheap tricks of intimidation and manipulation

STATEMENT OF THE EFF ON UJ AND ZANC CORROBORATION TO STOP ITS EVENTS AT THE DOORNFONTEIN CAMPUS

26, JULY, 2013

Economic Freedom Fighters condemns the University of Johannesburg's decision to close the university campus against the EFF event and its commander in chief, despite the fact that permission for this event had been granted.

This decision undermines academic freedom and the free flow of ideas within an institution of higher learning. Above all, UJ must be ashamed that is has joined the long queue of manipulated public institution used to settle political scores by the ruling party.

Economic Freedom Fighters were held at ransom because the toothless lapdogs of the African National Congress vowed that the EFF will not enter the University of Johannesburg. UJ has chosen a political side, fallen prey to the cheap tricks of the ruling party which used public institutions like the police, NPA, Hogs, SABC and others to protect its morally bankrupt political and economic program from being challenged.

As the EFF, we are not moved. If anything the events of the University of Johannesburg, like others earlier this week in the Vaal and other areas across the country, only serve as proof that ZANC is intimidated and now they resort to cheap tricks of intimidation, manipulation and street gossips. This is because all there is left in it is a label drained of genuine program of change for the majority who are oppressed and condemned to the permanent crises of poverty, inequality and unemployment.

The violence harboured by ZANC members and supporters is a living testimony that the EFF is the only genuine living threat to the ruling party. Nevertheless, the EFF soldiers on with the radical program of economic freedom in our lifetime. This is its moral power, and it is the reason for the overwhelming support it already enjoys before even launching as a political party and movement of the poor.
