Why are we helping out the Cubans (again)? - Anton Alberts

FF+ MP says money could've been better spent on assisting Transnet pensioners

FF Plus shocked about economic assistance package for communist Cuba

The Freedom Front Plus is shocked about the agreement which the ANC government today entered into to give economic assistance to a communist state such as Cuba. South Africa has its own economic challenges and cannot merely because due to the ANC's attachment to former struggle friends waste taxpayer's money through ill-considered economic assistance agreements. "The question one has to ask oneself is how the funds will be utilized within the Cuban communist economic regime and which guarantees exist that the funds will be paid back," Adv. Anton Alberts, the parliamentary spokesperson on Trade and Industry for the FF Plus said.

"There is however no doubt that the government's priorities are skewed. Why could the funds not be used to supplement the Transnet Pension Funds? So many elderly people who had helped to build Transnet up to what it is today are suffering. That is why the FF Plus views this assistance funding for Cuba as one of the most immoral acts which the ANC has committed to date," Alberts added.

The FF Plus will be addressing a letter to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Rob Davies to discuss this issue.
