Why did security fail at George Mukhari? - Jack Bloom

DA MPL questions how man was able to enter hospital with gun, shoot ex-lover

WHY DID SECURITY FAIL TO PREVENT SHOOTING AT GEORGE MUKHARI HOSPITAL?

I am horrified at the shooting incident this weekend at the George Mukhari Hospital in north west Gauteng.

A man reportedly shot his ex-lover in her hospital bed, and then threatening to shoot staff and patients in casualty (see Sapa report).

Previously, he had shot and wounded her two young children at their home, and they had been taken to the hospital.

Fortunately, the women survived the shooting and police managed to arrest the man.

We need to know why hospital security allowed this man entry with a gun.

Hospital managements needs to investigate this incident and hold the security company to account.

There have been other incidents where patients have been assaulted in hospitals by visitors with weapons.

Hospital security must be tightened to ensure that hospitals are always places of complete safety.
