ANC Gauteng must walk the talk and back motion condemning Zuma - John Moodey

DA says Premier Makhura and Paul Mashatile must not dash hopes of people by making sudden about-turn

ANC Gauteng must walk the talk and back DA's motion condemning Zuma

12 April 2016

The DA notes reports that the Gauteng ANC has broken ranks with its national counterparts and joined the call for President Jacob Zuma to resign.

However, Gauteng’s people have been down this road before with the Gauteng ANC’s views on e-tolls in late 2014, only to have their hopes dashed when Premier Makhura made a sudden about-turn a few months later.

This time round, Premier Makhura and Paul Mashatile will not get away with empty promises.

The DA will table a motion to debate a matter of urgent public importance in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in the next sitting on April 26, resolving to condemn President Jacob Zuma’s actions, and calling on him to resign.

The outcome of this debate will show how serious the Gauteng ANC is about defending the Constitution of South Africa.
