ANC wants South Africans to pay for Nkandla again

The establishment of a trust by the ANC to pay back the money used to upgrade President Jacob Zuma’s private residence at Nkandla is disgraceful and is essentially an attempt to make the people of South Africa pay for Nkandla a second time, after already having done so in the first place.

The Constitutional Court was clear that Jacob Zuma ought to pay back the money, determined by the National Treasury, “personally”.

If Jacob Zuma was serious about abiding by the court judgment, and wanted to show South Africa that he wanted to make up for what is now one of the greatest corruption scandals of a democratic South Africa, he would tell those ‘loyalists’ that he will pay back the money himself.

He will of course remain silent. Because President Jacob Zuma has shown time and time again that he doesn’t care about the people of South Africa. Its Number One first, and the people last. 

The ANC leadership will remain silent too while they take from the poor to give back to the rich, connected few. Because they too, when provided with an opportunity to hold Zuma accountable, have done nothing. 

This demonstrates yet again just how much the ANC has changed. Instead of fighting for justice, it now more concerned with taking from ANC members and South Africans to help pay for a presidential palace. 

It is time that this conduct, which facilitates corruption, is brought to an end. South Africans can do this on 3 August 2016 by voting DA for real change that will always ensure that those responsible for corrupt activities are held personally accountable.
