ANC welcomes and respects NDC's verdict

Party calls on all members, including those in Youth League, to respect decisions of disciplinary committee

ANC STATEMENT ON THE OUTCOME OF THE NDC TODAY

The African National Congress respects and welcomes the decision of the ANC National Disciplinary Committee on the charges that were preferred against Comrades; Julius Malema, Ronald Lamola, Pule Mabe, Sindiso Magaqa, Kenetse Mosenogi and Floyd Shivambu. We are cognizant of the fact that these comrades have the right of appeal to the ANC's National Disciplinary Committee of Appeals.

The elaborate and well thought of pronouncements by the NDC on the outcomes of all the hearings today, have once again vindicated our belief and faith in our open and transparent disciplinary processes. It is also our held view that the NDC has stuck to letter and spirit of the Constitution of the ANC in full-filling its duties.

The object of our disciplinary processes as enshrined in our Constitution is the correction of deviant behavior and the enhancement of both membership and leadership qualities of all ANC members. We believe this outcome as pronounced by the NDC today will make the concerned members better members but more importantly better leaders within the ANC going forward.

The ANC would like to thank the NDC led by Comrade Derek Hanekom for having presided over these hearings with respect, dignity and decorum. We equally, also want to express our appreciation for our own members who appeared before the DC for having subjected themselves to the ANC internal disciplinary process.

The ANC would like to call upon all its members, including those in our leagues, to respect the decisions of the NDC as pronounced today.

Statement issued by Jackson Mthembu, ANC National Spokesperson, November 10 2011
