ANCYL Gauteng backs Malema's re-election bid

League encourages all branches to rally behind the provincial position

Gauteng throws its weight behind Malema

The ANC Youth League in Gauteng convened its Provincial General Council in Johannesburg this past weekend.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Executive Committee members, Regional Executive Committees and branch delegates from all the 5 regions in the province.

The PGC was convened to prepare branches in the province for the 24th National Congress of the ANC YL scheduled for 16-19 June 2011 at Gallagher Estates.

Among other things, the PGC discussed nominations for national leadership positions ahead of the national conference.

After robust engagements, debates and voting, the Gauteng PGC resolved to nominate and sponsor the name of incumbent ANC YL President Julius Malema as a candidate for President in the upcoming 24 National Congress. Cde Ronald Lamola was nominated unopposed for Deputy President, Cde Sindiso Magaqa for Secretary-General, Cde Kenetswe Mosenogi for Deputy Secretary-General and Cde Pule Mabe for Treasurer-General.

We wish to thank the delegates who attended the meeting for their patience and discipline. We encourage them to continue maintaining the high level of self-discipline expected of an ANC Youth League cadre, as it has become the norm in Gauteng.

Delegates who will be representing branches at the National Congress are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting a member of the ANC Youth League.

We will not tolerate any unbecoming behaviour on the part of delegates and appropriate action would be taken against those who would be found to have transgressed and violated the constitution of the ANC Youth League.

We encourage all our branches to rally behind the provincial position and lobby for the view of our province to find expression in the National Congress.

Statement issued by ANC Youth League Gauteng Provincial Secretary, Cde Ayanda Kasa-Ntsobi, June 6 2011
