ANCYL throws weight being SASCO march

League says govt has railed to delivery on free education promise

ANCYL SUPPORTS THE MARCH OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS CONGRESS

The ANCYL is firmly behind the March organised by the South African Students Congress.

This March is a reminder that our country continues to face a crisis in Education, as we continue to witness young people being excluded from tertiary institutions and the African majority not having access to higher education.

The ANCYL believes in Free and Quality Education for all and calls upon all our structures to rally support behind SASCO during this nationwide mass action as a means of demonstrating to our Government and society that we do champion the interests of young people and in specific that we are concerned about the future of South Africa in light of the challenges we face socially and economically.

We equally demand  the immediate implementation of the resolutions taken in the 2007 Polokwane Congress of the ANC. We are concerned that to date the Minister of Higher Education and Training has not developed a coherent approach on the delivery of the progressive realisation of free education as per 2007 ANC Congress Resolution.

The ANCYL calls upon all its structures to attend the March and programmes in all provinces. The main March will be attended by the Deputy President and Deputy Secretary General of the ANCYL and will take place as follows:

Venue:
Gather at Tshwane City Hall and proceed to National Department of Higher Education
Assembly Time: 9:00am
Date: 4 May 2012
