YET ANOTHER GENERATOR FAILURE AT BARA HOSPITAL

It is scandalous that Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital has suffered yet another generator failure.

As reported by Power FM, surgeons had to complete operations by torchlight last Friday night after the generators failed to kick in following a power failure.

The same thing happened last week on Tuesday, prompting an apology by Gauteng Infrastructure Development MEC Qedani Mahlangu

In March last year Mahlangu said at a press conference: "I can now confidently stand before you and say that in the event of a power outage, generators at Chris Hani Baragwanath and the generators at Charlotte Maxeke will power the hospitals."

Since then, generators have failed at both these hospitals, causing severe stress to staff and patients.

There is no excuse for generators that fail as they should be tested regularly and maintained properly.

Mahlangu has lost all credibility in this matter. She should resign or be fired.
