"Apartheid media" ignored SASCO victories – ANCYL WCape

League congratulates student organisation’s success in SRC elections

APARTHEID MEDIA HAS MISSED THE DEMOCRATIC DEVELOPMENTS

We congratulated SASCO-WC on clean majority sweep of SRC elections in the Western Cape Higher Education institutions.

This effectively returning to leadership the progressive student formation which understand and cares about student’s needs.

The SASCO-WC clean majority sweep comes at the backdrop of unity of purpose that prioritises students’ needs over individual leader’s determination for them to lead.

The unity of purpose that saw the re-emergence of unity between all Progressive Youth Alliance (PYA) formations thereby fighting the elections as a unit.

The ANCYL-WC reiterated that SASCO-WC is short-changed by being contested by its own alliance youth formations. Thus, the ANCYL-WC has taken it upon itself in the WC to remind all youth formations that they need not cannibalise on each other’s organising spaces.

The prioritisation of organising where we supposed to organise structurally assists the PYA formations character and posture so they can focus on the key mandates which is delivering to their respective constituencies.

The victories of SASCO-WC happened on the eve of the ANC National General Council (NGC) and 2016 local government elections. This victory is an important victory on both counts, on local government elections, its a clear message to all and sundry who continue to be pundits that the ANC enjoys support from young people, that in fact young people chose to align their interest with those of the ANC. Also, it sends an emphatic message that the ANC as an organisation enjoys support of young people whom have always been said to be aloof and apathetic.

Now that the young people have firmly casted their anchors on the ANC mast, we hope the rest of the media can acknowledge and make the similar noise they made when SASCO had lost elections to DA like in Nelson Mandela Metro University for instance and in Fort Hare University.

The SASCO victory was important for the ANC NGC in that it sent a message to all the delegates gathering for the review of implementation of ANC policies that young people look up to the ANC to lead them and deliver their hopes and aspirations. It has send a clear message that young people are not confused but need a caring organisation that is the ANC.

The SASCO-WC victory is being muted by our media houses in the Western Cape, this further evidence that the fourth estate is interested in nothing else but the demise of the revolutionary movement, and thus any positive light should be muted or extinguished. We once again believe and more determined to unmask the media houses that are not interested in seeing the movement of the people, the ANC in positive light.

We are certain of the fact that – had it been DASO that achieved the victory achieved by SASCO WC – it would  have been profiled as a major victory by its mother organisation as a victory and strides in our mother body’s turf.

SA media continues being subjective and being dishonest and we shall expose it at every turn . South African media which suffers from apartheid hangover shamefully missed these developments.
