Cape Town housing scandals: Lindiwe Sisulu steps in - ANC WCape

Pat Lekker says minister has assigned a team led by Adv Menzi Simelane to get to the bottom of the shameful saga

ANC welcomes housing probe

The ANC welcomes the intervention by national human settlement minister Lindiwe Sisulu to have a full probe into fraud, double payments, the Filcon scandal and paying gangsters for protection with the upgrading of council flats by the DA led City of Cape Town.

The ANC has recently called on Sisulu to audit the upgrading and the unfolding signs that public money is abused and criminals economically supported.

ANC Western Cape community safety spokesperson (Ms) Pat Lekker says: “The ANC thanks Sisulu for her rapid response and the fact that she sees the very serious allegations for what it is and impact on the mandate of her department to provide housing to the needy.

“Sisulu is serious to ensure the matter is investigated and culprits identified to be duly charged. To this end Sisulu assigned a team lead by Advocate Menzi Simelane to get to the bottom of the shameful saga. The ANC will cooperate with the investigation and calls on all other people with evidence to come forward in order to submit this to the Simelane inquiry.

“It includes the fact that the Robdyl company of Rashied Staggie’s right hand man Rollen “Watson” Olince in the Hard Livings are still paid for protection at City of Cape Town properties in Manenberg (where police raids took place this morning) under Haw & Ingles’ contract. This must get priority in the investigation.”
