Blue flag status: Cape Town lying about non-white beaches - Tony Ehrenreich

COSATU WCape says Mnandi and Strandfontein are death traps

COSATU Western Cape concerned about the City misrepresenting the status of beaches to get blue flag status

The beaches which got blue flag status and who deserves it are the mainly white area beaches in the City. The beaches of Mnandi and Strandfontein are death traps with real dangers to swimmers.

The surrounding area of Mnandi and Strandfontein are completely in ruin due to the lack of upkeep of the city and constitutes real dangers to beach goers.

The rip current caused by the breakwall at Mnandi has led to many drownings and the City is yet to remedy the problem.

This various beach state of affairs once again shows that the City prioritises white area beaches ahead of beaches in the black areas.

The Mnandi and Strandfontein is in a desperate state, yet the City gives a R100 million to Sea point and R200 million for Strand beach developments.
