Cape Town prevented from reinstalling Makhaza toilets

City still committed to complying with terms of court order

City committed to complying with Court Order

In compliance with the interim court order issued on Monday, which stated that the City should immediately begin re-installing and reconnecting the 65 toilets in the Makhaza area, the City began work on site this morning.

Unfortunately, City staff and the contractor appointed by the City to perform the work encountered substantial resistance in the area and have had to withdraw.

The City intends to fully comply with the court order. This order is in line with the City's repeated offer to enclose the toilets of residents who are unable to do so themselves.
