Dlomo resisting ANC's own amendments to POSIB - COPE

Dennis Bloem says DoSS's acting DG made a mockery of parliamentary processes

Resisting of Info Bill Concessions a sign of arrogance:COPE

The Department of State Security's Acting Director General, Mr. Dennis Dlomo today made a mockery out of the processes of Parliament when it ignored proposed amendments by the ANC.

The AD-Hoc Committee went all out with public hearings in all 9 provinces and also had deliberations in Parliament with civil society organisations including the esteemed Human Rights Activist, Adv. George Bizos and the Public Protector.

All Political parties in the Committee presented proposed amendments to the Bill and to certain extend parties agreed on some of the proposals but today Mr. Dlomo showed his arrogance and rubbished all the proposed amendments including those of the ANC.

COPE does not accept this type of behaviour from a departmental official and will raise the matter critically in our next committee meeting.

Committees deal with all inputs and submissions of individuals and organisations and are not there to undermine others.
