The African National Congress Gauteng Province is shocked and deeply saddened by the passing away of Comrade Dumisa Ntuli. Comrade Dumisa died in a car accident near his home in Albertsdal, Ekurhuleni in the early hours of this morning.

A humble, dedicated and diligent servant of our people, Comrade Dumisa Ntuli was employed as the Communications Director of the ANC in the Gauteng Province at the time of his passing. A well rounded activist rooted in the struggles of our people, Comrade Dumisa cut his political teeth as one of the founding members of the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) in 1979. He served the organisation in various capacities including as an Regional Executive Committee member in the East Rand Region.

After having dedicated his time to the mobilisation and conscientising of learners under the tutelage of COSAS, Comrade Dumisa studied for a degree at the University of Witwatersrand, where again he associated himself with and joined the progressive structures of the Mass Democratic Movement in the South African Students Congress (SASCO).

On completion of his studies, Comrade Dumisa was appointed as the National Spokesperson of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), later he joined the Office of the Chief Whip in the City of Johannesburg as a Manager before taking up his position at the administrative helm of the ANC Communications Unit in the Gauteng Province.

Comrade Dumisa Ntuli will be dearly remembered for his commitment and selflessness in service to his movement and his people. His relentless and tireless spirit has left an inedible mark in the workings of Sisulu House, the provincial home of our movement. His unassuming, courteous and kindly nature touched all those who were fortunate to meet him and for this, amongst his many other noble qualities, he will be sorely missed.

The African National Congress sends it condolences to Comrade Dumisa Ntuli's wife, Lebo, his children, his family at large and his friends. Their loss is our loss. We are humbled and grateful that for his short time on earth, those closest to him, allowed him to share his life with the African National Congress. As we grieve the passing of Comrade Dumisa Ntuli, we are inspired by his life well live and spent in service of our movement.
