EFF calls on Ramaphosa to deliver SONA reply in person

Staying away to be on the virtual platform is a snobbish choice which must be dismissed with contempt

EFF CALLS ON RAMAPHOSA TO DELIVER HIS REPLY TO SONA DEBATE PHYSICALLY

Tuesday, 15 February 2022

The EFF condemns Ramaphosa's decision to watch the State of the Nation Address Debate on a virtual platform. If it was correct and useful for him to physically address the joint sitting, which is convened in his name. then he should have physically sat during the whole debate to listen, physically, to all MPs debating his address.

We therefore call on him to attend the State of the Nation Address Reply physically.

Ramaphosa physically gathered thousands of ordinary South Africans across the country to ask for votes during the 2021 Local Government Elections. Now that he must physically execute his duties in line with the constitutional prerogative .r accountability, he chooses a virtual platform.

There are absolutely no grounds for the President to convene both Houses of Parliament for a sitting, physically give an address and then stay away to watch the debate on the virtual platform. It is in fact the greatest disrespect and inconsideration. A sign of his disregard for accountability.

Ramaphosa has a constitutional dury to execute this duty to the best of his abiliry as stated in his oath of office. Staying away to be on the virtual platform is a snobbish choice which must be dismissed with contempt.
