FF+ launches campaign for Pretoria

Conrad Beyers says Afrikaners are beginning to flex their muscles

FF PLUS KICKS OFF MUNICIPAL CAMPAIGN FOR PRETORIA

The Freedom Front Plus kicked off its election campaign for the 2011 municipal elections in the Tshwane metro area, and said that the elections will be an important indicator of how the Afrikaner community sees its future in South Africa .

The party appointed ‘shadow councillors' in all wards in the Tshwane metro area, where there is a significant presence of the Afrikaner community.

According to Dr. Conrad Beyers, FF Plus councillor and a spokesperson for the party's Greater Pretoria region, the Afrikaner is beginning to flex its muscle in the South African society.

"Especially on the terrain of civil society Afrikaners are in the process of regrouping. It is however crucial that this process should manifest politically in order to maintain the momentum. The FF Plus is the party that is perfectly positioned to fill this role," Beyers said.

The campaign in Pretoria will focus on service delivery, the issue of name changes as well as on the creation of a realistic political alternative whereby Afrikaners and other minority groups can enjoy full protection in terms of group rights.

The FF Plus further said that only a vote for the FF Plus will be counted as a protest vote against the status quo. A vote for any other party will only imply "more of the same".
