Fraud uncovered during crucial by-elections – IFP

ANC allegedly bussed people who aren't from the ward or uMhlabuyalingana area in to come vote

IFP in KZN Warns of Voter Fraud and Irregularities at uMhlabuyalingana By-elections

26 April 2023

The IFP in KZN has uncovered election fraud during today’s crucial by-elections being held in Ward 19, uMhlabuyalingana Municipality, North of the Province.

The IFP has discovered that the ANC has allegedly registered scores of voters, who do not reside in Ward 19, most of whom are not even from the Mhlabuyalingana area.

At the Traffic Centre Voting District (VD), the ANC was caught bussing in people who do not reside in Ward 19 to vote in the VD.

This has prompted party agents and observers from other political parties to force the voting process to be halted, until this irregularity is resolved.

Again, in Ntshongwe VD, an envelope containing a number of marked ballot papers has been discovered. This is yet another attempt - in our view - by the ANC to commit election fraud.

The IFP challenges the ANC to respect our democracy, electoral laws and rules and our citizen’s right to chose leaders of their choice.

The Party has approached the IEC to urgently investigate these matters, so that the by-election can proceed smoothly.

The IFP will continue to be on the ground with eyes and ears wide open, to safeguard our democracy. The will of the people must prevail.
