Help us find the murderers of SATAWU Gauteng Secretary

15 April 2015

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) is reeling in shock after the gruesome murder the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) Gauteng Provincial Secretary, Chris Nkosi who was shot dead on Monday night.

Cde Nkosi was on his way home from a meeting in Johannesburg.

POPCRU has been very vocal in condemning the ownership of unlicensed firearms in our communities.

We have made several calls to the government to speed up gun laws through the draft bill which aims to tighten controls and we also call for harsher sentences to non- abiding citizens.

We now humbly appeal to the South African community to join forces with the police in apprehending those responsible.

We believe that someone somewhere has information that may lead to the arrests of the perpetrators and their prosecution. The union encourages members of the public to report these ruthless criminals that are constantly robbing the nation.

We appreciate comrade Nkosi’s contribution in South African union movement as he showed dedication and commitment in his work for the working class. On behalf of the 158 000 POPCRU members we sends our condolences to the SATAWU, Nkosi family, friends and colleagues the fallen hero.

Statement issued by POPCRU 1st Deputy General Secretary, Thandi Hlatshwayo, April 15 2015
