Horrific rape and murders in Rhodes Park

18 October 2015

I have established from a reliable source that a woman was raped and she and another woman were forced to watch as their husbands were tied up and drowned in the lake in Rhodes Park in Kensington, east Johannesburg.

This horrific incident occurred at about 7pm last night.

There appear to have been 12 men involved who fled through a storm drain and have not yet been apprehended.

Divers searched for three hours in the night and found the two bodies of the men who had been tied up in their own clothes.

One man raped the woman while the others held her down.

Their two companions were then tied up and thrown in the lake.

The park is locked at night and police struggled to get in when they were called.

There have been other serious crime incidents in the park.

People should avoid the park after hours as security cannot be assured.
