Jobs, good governance, service delivery, the DA gets it right

Honourable Speaker,

Some wisdom from the author, Steve Maraboli, reads, “if you behave in a manner that poisons your relationship, don’t be surprised when it dies.”

The voters showed through their votes in the 2016 municipal elections that the relationship between them and the ANC is dying.

Honourable Speaker,

The ANC is the creator of its own downfall. The ANC can never say that they care about the people, especially the poor and the vulnerable, when all ANC leaders do is offer empty promises of jobs and prosperity.

We are saddened to learn that 16 000 more people in the Free State alone have lost their jobs during the previous quarter. That is 16 000 more families who will find it harder to buy food, medicine and pay for rent, transport and school fees. The official unemployment figure is at 34.2%. It’s a terrible shame for which the ANC must account.

Speaker,

The poor economic policies of the ANC, alongside its poor governance and lack of service delivery go hand in hand as being responsible for the poor economic growth we experience as well as the massive job losses the people have to suffer.

Albert Einstein said that the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

But the people of the Free State should take heart. The DA gets it right! Under the DA-led government in the Western Cape 49 000 new jobs were created during the last quarter. It was also the only provincial government that managed to obtain unqualified audit outcomes for all its departments and entities.

The DA cares about the plight of the people. The DA stops corruption. The DA delivers services. The DA has the economic policies backed by the political will to grow the economy and create jobs.

The DA remains accountable, that is why the DA is coming to unseat every ANC government at every sphere.
