Max Sisulu gave no reason for his resignation from parliament - ANC

Party says suggestion that former speaker resigned over Nkandla matter mischievous

ANC STATEMENT ON THE RESIGNATION OF COMRADE MAX SISULU FROM PARLIAMENT

The African National Congress confirms that Comrade Max Sisulu has resigned from Parliament by submitting a notice to the Chief Whip of the ANC, Comrade Stone Sizani. According to the letter no substantive reasons have been given for his resignation. The ANC wants to put it on record that ANC members can exercise a choice serve in Parliament or they can withdraw that decision if they chose so.

We want to dispel an unfounded rumor that Comrade Max resigned after he had been summoned to a meeting at the ANC headquarters pertaining to Nkandla investigation. This mischievous assertion seeks to second guess reasons behind Comrade Max's decision. We appeal for all those who are spreading these lies to desist from such and respect his decision.

Statement issued by Zizi Kodwa, ANC national spokesperson, May 29 2014
