Gauteng Premier appoints Bheki Nkosi to act in portfolio until further notice (July 11)

The Gauteng Premier, Ms. Nomvula Mokonyane accepts the resignation of MEC Humphrey Mmemezi with immediate effect

Gauteng Premier, Nomvula Mokonyane, today received the resignation letter of the Member of Executive Council (MEC) for Local Government and Housing, Mr. Humphrey Mmemezi, following the allegations levelled against him.

Upon receipt of the letter of resignation, taking into account the due processes that unfolded, the Premier decided to accept the resignation.

In the interim, the MEC for Infrastructure Development, Mr.Bheki Nkosi, has been appointed with immediate effect to act in that portfolio until further notice.

The Premier wishes to acknowledge the contribution Mr. Mmemezi has made in providing leadership in the sectors he was deployed and wish him well in his future endeavours.
