ANC LAUDS KZN MUNICIPALITIES FOR RECEIVING CLEAN AUDIT REPORTS

04 JUNE 2015

The entire leadership collective of the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has showered with accolades the municipalities that have received clean audit reports (see here - PDF).

The ANC is upbeat to note the dramatic improvement in the handling of the public funds by many municipalities.

ANC Provincial Secretary Cde Sihle Zikalala said this is encouraging and shows that the ANC led provincial government through its Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) is successfully taking local government to another level. “This also tells us that officials in municipalities have perfected the skill of administering and properly use the public money,” Cde Zikalala said.

The ANC has always been encouraging and devising strategies to encourage municipalities to use finances sparingly and strive towards improving the lives of the people. We are upbeat to see that our efforts are yielding results.

Whilst we commend those municipalities that have done well, which are in majority, we also extend our plea to those that have not reached required levels of performance to work had.

Our priority is to bring service delivery to all the corners of our province and municipalities should assist us to make this a reality by being good at financial management so that the whole budget goes to improving people’s lives through service delivery.
