Murder of Aubuti Chika barbaric - SACP NWest

PEC says ANC in the province has attracted too many criminal elements into its ranks

SACP NORTH WEST STATEMENT ON THE BARBARIC MURDER OF ANC SECRETARY

Klerksdorp - The SACP in the North West has received the shocking news of the brutal murder of the ANC Secretary in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Region, Comrade Aubuti Chika. In the view of the SACP, the murder of Comrade Chika represents barbarism of the worst order. We strongly condemn this incident, as it has no place in our democracy but above all in our ANC-led Revolutionary Alliance.

This barbaric act happens within few weeks after the car of the SACP Provincial Secretary, Comrade Madoda Sambatha was torched at his home, the attempted murder of the ANC Provincial Secretary, Comrade Kabelo Mataboge and the continuous death threats to COSATU Provincial Secretary, Comrade Solly Phetoe demonstrate the seriousness of the political situation of the North West Province. The ANC as a movement in the North West has attracted too many criminal elements into its ranks who unfortunately masquerade as political factions. There is also too much money from proceeds of corruption in Municipalities and Departments that is used to continue destabilizing the province.

We will appreciate it as the SACP if the these unfortunate developments in the North West can get the necessary attention of the ANC 53rd National Conference in Mangaung. The Conference will therefore have to ensure that the ANC get rid of criminal elements within its ranks, brings to an end the systematic corruption within the province and unite real and loyal members of the ANC.

We call on all members of our movement at this stage to be calm and avoid making unfounded allegations or giving misleading conclusions. As the SACP, we have confidence in the South African Police Services (SAPS) to bring the perpetrators to book. To the perpetrators we call on them to hand themselves over to the police, as they cannot survive the thorough investigations of the SAPS.
