Nkandla report should be debated in parliament first - Madonsela

Public Protector says she doubts ministers' court application will succeed

Public Protector notes Security Cluster Ministers' intended court action

Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela on Thursday noted an announcement by the Security Cluster Ministers to take her report on security installation and upgrades at President Jacob Zuma's private residence in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal on judicial review. The Public Protect is of the view that the Minsters' intended action is premature.

"The architecture of our constitutional democracy as we understand it requires that the matter be debated in Parliament first. Should there no common understanding, the matter can then be taken to court," she said.

The Pubic Protector added that she could not imagine any court of law finding in the Ministers' favour.
