Official launch rally in Marikana delayed - EFF

Fighters' says postponement due to the incomplete IEC registration process

Press Alert on the Postponement of Economic Freedom Fighters Launching Rally in Marikana

19, August, 2013

Economic Freedom Fighters have, after careful legal advice, decided to postpone the Official Launch that was planned for Marikana this weekend. The postponement is due to the incomplete Independent Electoral Commission process that the EFF is currently going through. Since this process has not completed, it means the National Assembly on WHAT IS TO BE DONE decision to launch EFF as a Political Party in Marikana will be premature till the IEC process has confirmed the EFF and certified it as a political party.

At the Launch, the EFF will demonstrate to the South African public, as well as the entire world its certificate of registration as an official political protest based party of the people which will partake in the 2014 general elections.

The formation of ground structures in building the organisational depth of the party will continue as rigorously as it has been unfolding, including mass work, in the form of rallies, protests, agitations and lectures. All fighters across the country will therefore continue to mobilise on the formidable political agenda of economic freedom in our lifetime.

The announcement of the new date will be in consideration of the IEC timeline registration process and the Central Command Team meeting later this week. The decision to launch the EFF in Marikana still stands, precisely for the importance the place and struggle fought by the massacred minders represent; EFF will launch here to collect the spears of the fallen heroes in pursuit of economic justice and a better South Africa and Africa.

EFF is further inspired by the Millions of South Africans who are engaged in the processes of building structures and recruiting members to fight for economic freedom in our lifetime.
