Philip Mhlongo sworn in as an MP - EFF

Fighters say their new representative brings with himself a deep commitment to the struggle for economic freedom

EFF welcomes the new Member of Parliament

The Economic Freedom Fighters welcomes its newly sworn-in Member of Parliament, Fighter Philip Mhlongo, who will be joining the team of EFF revolutionary parliamentarianism. He was born and raised in uMsinga District in KwaZulu Natal where he did both his primary and high school education.

Fighter Mhlongo currently serves in the EFF Provincial Command Team of KwaZulu Natal and has been very central to the establishment of the EFF in this province from the beginning. He comes from a long history of the struggle against brutal and minority apartheid regime. He was forced into politics in the 1970s after the brutal murder of his father by racist right-wingers.

He was a member and activist of the United Democratic Front (UDF) until the unbanning of the ANC in 1990. Fighter Mhlongo also joined Umkhoto we Sizwe (MK) in 1986 and got training in Mozambique, Matola camp. He was also in Quatro, Angola before returning South Africa to form part of different attachments and deployments in Natal underground operations in the 1980s.

Fighter Mhlongo brings with himself a deep commitment to the struggle for economic freedom and will add value as members of parliament. He holds a advanced diploma in Labour Law through the Ditsela program at Wits University.
